.....what parents/carers, children and young people say
“Because Time Aside sessions are so inclusive it helps other people to open out, which is important as families can get withdrawn and isolated and people get used to this.”
“’J’ is able
to explore contact with other children and young people and do things alongside
them.”
“A really good social situation for my child.
Encourages friendships, sharing and free exploration of all the art media.
Their creations have no boundaries as long as everyone is safe.”
“For me as a parent it’s
access of talking to other parents, I have got to know a few parents now,
I’m quite an anxious person, where I now feel part of a family and
don’t feel alone anymore. It’s the talking, I wouldn’t
have the chance to mix in a relaxed setting, I have to be hands on all the
time, so it’s hard to relax.”

Short Breaks...... what parents/carers, children and young people say
We encourage ownership by families of the sessions, we understand the need of families to feel they can drop in and be occasional as well as regular attendees. This puts choice at the heart of families in meeting the stressed patterns of days.
“Lots of choice gives
‘C’ the option of what she wants to do without restrictions.”
“The environment is relaxed and allows him to decide
what activity to participate in.”
“Time Aside allows our young people the opportunity
and the time to make their own choices with their art and how they want
to use the equipment..”
“E can explore without pressure which is very important as he has such a short attention span. This is a place I can bring him to relax.”
“S is a very
tactile child so she really enjoys the play and time with the clay. At nursery
it is very adult led. Here she can explore her own interests and this holds
her interest. She’s really into media and art and she can explore
this here. Now *** Horsham, S doesn’t fit their mould. Time Aside
has helped me to learn to ‘back off’ and let S lead her learning
and she concentrates for much longer than usual. She sings and she always
sings when she is happy. “
